Customer Review: Adventure's Dream; It Is Ultra Durable w/ Amazing Support

After breaking three cameras in a four month period I wanted something that could take a beating and this camera has delivered. After 7 months it has survived:
- Below Freezing Temperatures Continuously for 2 weeks.
- Fording Flood Stage Rivers in my pocket
- Accidentally being dropped off a 20 foot cliff onto a soft ground
- Caving (spelunking) in wet and dry conditions.
- Accidental drop of 2 feet onto concrete then falling down 2 concrete stadium stairs
- Underwater up to 15 feet in ocean, freshwater and pools for up to an hour at a time
- Backpacking trips
- 35 foot cliff jumping in my pocket
- And most recently: being knocked out of my hand at an outdoor concert in the rain and kicked around by the crowd; found the next day.
In ALL these things it was taking pictures with no problem before and afterward.
Customer Service
I did break the camera a month ago. It was surprisingly from a 2 foot drop onto pavement: it cracked the LCD screen (it still took pictures although I couldn't see what I was shooting). After contacting customer support I shipped it for repair. From first contact to receiving the fixed camera back was 7 days! Plus the fix was free because it failed under normal conditions and was under warranty.
Good:
- Durable, waterproof
- Good picture quality (takes getting use to)
- 5X optical zoom
- Fast & Helpful Customer Support
- Approximately 400 High Resolution Pictures internal memory capacity
- Approximately 250 High Resolution Pictures per battery charge
Bad:
- Sluggish Start Up
- The buttons on the rear are metal covered plastic that wears off
- Indoors pictures typically blur (this seems an Olympus problem in general)
Picture Quality
At first I was disappointed with the picture quality, as it seemed poor. However after about a month of use I was able to easily and fully compensate for how the camera operates and take great quality pictures. That being said, it is not SLR quality, but comparable to other point and shoots.
Nuts & Bolts
This camera is prefect for those of us who want to throw the camera in our pocket, go and not worry about it. Because of this I take pictures that few others get because they are worried about their camera. Whether it is at the beach, on a mountain trail, or in a blizzard I can take out my camera and get the amazing shots. Plus, I can get to spots no one else can take a picture from. (Ex: Many people take pictures of people jumping off the cliff, but few would get pictures from in the water looking up as someone jumps.)
This camera has outdone my expectations and truly is an adventure's dream. I highly recommend it.
